Martin House 2017

It’s been a busy few months.

I’ve been volunteering for Martin House and creating over 30 videos for several fundraising events.

Back in November Martin House had their yearly ‘Strictly get Dancing’ event in Wetherby, however prior to the big night I visited the rehearsal studios a few times to shoot fundraising videos for all the couples. Here’s an example featuring Nicole and Lee, who would go on to win the final event:

After the dance final I sent some trimmed rushes to ITV Calendar who ran this news item on the Monday following the event:

In December I created this little ditty with the help of the music team, staff, volunteers and children of Martin House:

I also suggested a fundraising ‘thank-you’ video which went live soon after:

All of these videos were filmed using my Teleprompter setup, so the people onscreen simply read the text off the iPad screen while looking down the lens.

I filmed my first Mannequin Challenge today at the Trinity Shopping Centre. The challenge took place in Trinity Kitchen, the restaurant venue. I used my new gimbal for the first time and filmed using my Sony a6000 with Tom kindly carrying round a softlight on a monopole. The gimbal helps level the camera and makes everything really smooth while the operator walks around.

I had a quick walkthrough, allowing me to see where some people were going to be and to get them posed properly for the camera, but most of it I hadn’t seen when it came to the big moment. I missed the lady in the Photo Booth the first time so I did another short clip of her section and seamlessly spliced that back in.

After the filming, I edited the video onsite and the client uploaded it to their Social Media channels.

The Yorkshire Evening Post featured the event too.

I also wore a body mounted GoPro on another gimbal which I used to capture the event behind the camera.
You can see my POV in this video, and hear me count down to the final ‘hurray’.
