White Rose accessibility

I had the pleasure of working with Hannah Cockrock MBE in her new role as Accessibility Ambassador at the White Rose shopping centre. She’s the current T34 Paralypic world record holder and winner of seven gold medals for Great Britain.

White Rose requested a scripted video showcasing the ease of access around their site and in the stores, as well as VoxPops from the service users and the public.

Hannah has presented many times on live and prerecorded TV, so she was really easy to work with and nothing was too much trouble.

I shot the whole thing in a day, with a few interviews and VoxPops that didn’t make it into my final edit. Mostly filmed on the LS300 with some gimbal mounted G80, and I mounted a GoPro onto her chair for the moving shots.

Deansgate Square

The huge Deansgate Square development in Manchester is finally open.
I’ve been making the timelapse update videos and social media projects for a few years now.

Despite the Covid19 situation the client still needed additional promotional videos showing the new facilities onsite. So I spent two days on location with Tom and a group of clients, shooting two videos:

This was also the first big job where I’ve used my new Crane 3s Pro Gimbal.

The gimbal is capable of handling large payloads, far heavier than my largest camera with everything attached. Anyway you can see quite a few gimbal shots in the video above, it lets me move the camera easily and smoothly using any camera and heavy cinema lenses. It wasn’t cheap but the results speak for themselves.

More recently I’ve made the resident’s handover videos for both Deansgate Square and the nearby Crown Street development.

Martin House Covid19 Appeal

Martin House Hospice asked me to make a 2019 Christmas fundraising video. It was a good opportunity to capture a few extra interviews and cutaway footage for future videos too:

Early in 2020 I put this little video together:

Later, they needed a few urgent videos as the lockdown has seriously affected their fundraising work. Most of this years’ fundraising events are getting cancelled too. I made a few online appeal videos, and a TV commercial which I managed to get aired for free on Made in Leeds TV.

No Horses Spared

I was asked to film timelapse of the Nightingale Harrogate hospital being fitted out, an impressive build with a huge team of people working around the clock . I installed four cameras in the roof spaces, and also used a tripod based camera when I was on site myself.

The footage ended being used by dozens of websites as well as ITV and the BBC, both local and national:

Apprenticeships are a key part of the employment market and Inland Homes wanted to show their strong commitment to the future of the construction sector. I visited one of their current developments, as well as their Beaconsfield HQ to make this video:

Strictly in Leeds

, , ,

For the third year, I’ve worked on the Martin House ‘Strictly get Dancing’ event, creating video assets to promote and launch the event. Filming the event on the night, as well as the videos that play on the big screens during the night. For the first time the event was held at a venue in Leeds, and so I also provided and operated the show lighting, which wasn’t easy as I was operating a camera at the same time! They had a little aftershow party so I left the lights up and kept the mood going.

This year Duncan Lomax from Ravage Productions looked after the event photography, so we took the opportunity to get a photo with Duncan Wood from ITV… The three Duncan’s together for the first time!

Deansgate Manchester

Deansgate Square in Manchester is a massive property development that includes a cluster of four skyscrapers, shopping and entertainment centres.

I’ve been editing monthly update videos for a few years using onsite timelapse. In early July I visited the site to film the showhomes and capture a day to night timelapse. I’ve used some of that footage in this launch video:

My new Rock’n’Roller cart has been a great help, letting me get all the gear onsite in one trip.
