White Rose accessibility

, , , , ,

I had the pleasure of working with Hannah Cockrock MBE in her new role as Accessibility Ambassador at the White Rose shopping centre. She’s the current T34 Paralypic world record holder and winner of seven gold medals for Great Britain.

White Rose requested a scripted video showcasing the ease of access around their site and in the stores, as well as VoxPops from the service users and the public.

Hannah has presented many times on live and prerecorded TV, so she was really easy to work with and nothing was too much trouble.

I shot the whole thing in a day, with a few interviews and VoxPops that didn’t make it into my final edit. Mostly filmed on the LS300 with some gimbal mounted G80, and I mounted a GoPro onto her chair for the moving shots.

Life is Live

I’ve been investing in Live-Streaming equipment in the last year or so. That seems to have paid off as Covid19 has caused many business to cancel their in person presentations, conferences, and product launches. I now have two full sized cameras that can stream independently to the internet via Wifi or Ethernet, and I also have a multi camera streaming setup for up to 4 video sources.

Deansgate Square

The huge Deansgate Square development in Manchester is finally open.
I’ve been making the timelapse update videos and social media projects for a few years now.

Despite the Covid19 situation the client still needed additional promotional videos showing the new facilities onsite. So I spent two days on location with Tom and a group of clients, shooting two videos:

This was also the first big job where I’ve used my new Crane 3s Pro Gimbal.

The gimbal is capable of handling large payloads, far heavier than my largest camera with everything attached. Anyway you can see quite a few gimbal shots in the video above, it lets me move the camera easily and smoothly using any camera and heavy cinema lenses. It wasn’t cheap but the results speak for themselves.

More recently I’ve made the resident’s handover videos for both Deansgate Square and the nearby Crown Street development.

Apprenticeships are a key part of the employment market and Inland Homes wanted to show their strong commitment to the future of the construction sector. I visited one of their current developments, as well as their Beaconsfield HQ to make this video:

Deansgate Square in Manchester is a massive property development that includes a cluster of four skyscrapers, shopping and entertainment centres.

I’ve been editing monthly update videos for a few years using onsite timelapse. In early July I visited the site to film the showhomes and capture a day to night timelapse. I’ve used some of that footage in this launch video:

Here’s a typical monthly update video:

My new Rock’n’Roller cart has been a great help, letting me get all the gear onsite in one trip.

It’s a busy Summer at the White Rose Shopping Centre.

The Jurassic Trail

After the success of last year’s life size T-Rex in the Trinity Shopping Centre, Leeds Bid together with a handful of Leeds city shopping centres decided to expand on the concept.

This year a similar sized T-Rex was installed in Trinity Leeds, but there were also smaller installations in four other locations in central Leeds. The installation took place across four nights and I also filmed a few times during the day.

This was during the long summer heatwave. On one really hot evening in the Trinity we witnessed an amazing lightning storm directly above the Trinity Leeds roof. My GoPro captured the show which went viral on Facebook:

Once installation was complete I revisited the sites to film public interaction and I had edited the video by the following day:

Like last year, this job was achieved with a wide range of cameras and techniques. Static and motion timelapse, pole gimbal, tripods and handheld. I think I used every type of camera I own at some point!

The RocknRoller trolley was used by the installation crew to help carry dinosaur parts around the venue, and it also acted as a portable motion timelapse station…

Living the life

Britannia Living needed videos for their social media channels to promote their installation service. Filmed in Kentish Town, London.

This video shows the installation process:

They also promote a ‘try before you buy’ service where you can rent the property and try the oven for yourself:

Soon afterwards they starting releasing the many food specific videos that I made, but there’s too many to show here…
